Key Executives

Marc Lebel, President and CEO

Marc Lebel is the founding Chief Executive Officer of FRX Polymers.  He brings 25 years of product and business development, operations, and sales and marketing experience to FRX Polymers.  Previously, he held senior executive positions at Triton Systems and Aspen Aerogels as Executive VP and VP of Sales and Marketing respectively.  He was the Global Business Group Director for Cabot Corp. and was the founding CEO of DSM Thermoplastic Elastomers, a company he grew for the $8B Dutch parent company, DSM.  Mr. Lebel holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ottawa and has completed company sponsored executive management courses at Harvard Business School and the International Management Development Institute.

Dr. Jan-Pleun Lens, Vice President Research and Applications

Dr. Jan-Pleun Lens is Vice President Research and Applications of FRX Polymers. Before joining FRX Polymers, Jan-Pleun worked for GE Plastics and SABIC Innovative Plastics for over 11 years where he started as a Product Developer working on novel polycarbonates made through the melt polycondensation process. After completing a Black Belt assignment setting up the supply chain for new monomers from China and India, Jan-Pleun held positions as European Technology Manager for Polycarbonate Products and Global Technology Manager for the Interfacial Polycarbonate Process. Jan-Pleun was the developer and technical lead for one of the new specialty polycarbonates from SABIC Innovative Plastics and obtained different prestigious company awards. He is a qualified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, has published over 20 articles, and is inventor on more than 60 patent applications of which more than 40 have been granted year to date. Jan-Pleun obtained his Master's degree in Chemical Engineering in 1991 from the University Twente in the Netherlands and in, 1996, he obtained his PhD in Polymer Technology from the same university.

Christopher Joyce, Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Christopher Joyce is Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer of FRX Polymers. Mr. Joyce brings 28 years of experience managing all aspects of corporate finance for both venture backed startups and larger public companies. He has raised a significant amount of debt and equity capital in both the public and private markets, completed merger and acquisition activities, and managed operations. Previously, he was on the founding team as VP & CFO of Elemè Medical and the founding team as VP & CFO for Percardia Inc., both medical device startups. Mr. Joyce also served as Vice President and Treasurer of XTRA Corporation, a publicly held lessor of freight transportation equipment. He earned a BS from the University of Massachusetts and a Masters of Business from Babson College.

Kevin Trudel, Vice President of Sales

Kevin Trudel is vice president of sales and is responsible for the global sales operation at FRX Polymers. Mr. Trudel brings over twenty five years of flame retardant industry experience most recently from Albermarle. His most recent position at Albermarle was Director of Global Sales Growth where his understanding of high growth markets helped grow a team of industry experts and sales team for the electronics market. Prior to that he was Director of Global Strategic Accounts with over $650M in business including key accounts such as Exxon, Dow, DuPont, DSM, BASF, BP, Valero, and Sabic. Mr. Trudel also held management positions at Union Carbide and General Electric. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Ina Jiang, Vice President of Marketing

Ina is resposnible for global strategic marketing and marketing communication efforts. She is a Chinese national who previously served as Global Strategic Marketing Manager, then Director of Strategy and Business Development for Chemtura Corp. Jiang brings a broad range of experience in flame retardant materials, copper clad laminates, and foam products for electronic, plastic, general industry, transportation, building and construction markets. Jiang has also held global marketing and sales management posts at Eastman Chemical, Rogers Corp., and Sony. She holds an MBA from the University of Illinois, a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University in Shanghai, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Finance from Shanghai International Studies University.

 

Dr. Ulrich Girrbach, Vice President of Fibers and Textiles

Ulrich Girrbach served as Director and Vice President and Global Head of Marketing and Sales for Hoechst/Trevira. He developed and implemented a global marketing strategy for flame retardant fibers and intermediate yarns, leading to strong growth in the U.S. (greater than 70% over two years). As Global Marketing Manager for Trevira CS, Dr. Girrbach introduced comprehensive market segmentation for different end users which led to strong sales growth. He also served as a SVP Global Marketing at ASK Chemicals Group as well as Chariman of the Board of Directors at ASK Chemicals Iberica.  Dr. Girrbach earned a PhD in natural sciences from the University of Mainz and a Dipl. Ing., Master in Engineering from the University Karlsruhe.

 

Dr. Frank Nuyttens, Plant Manager, FRX Antwerp

Dr. Frank Nuyttens is Plant Manager of the FRX plant in Antwerp, Belgium. He has more than 20 years of experience managing all aspects of running a chemical plant i.e. dealing with supply chain, production, QC-QA, safety and environment, logistics, process improvements. Before he joined FRX, Dr Nuyttens worked for 14 years at EOC Surfactants in Belgium. At EOC, he optimized the existing surfactants plant and later on built and start up a new plant specially designed for the production of betaines, leading in an overall capacity increase of 40.000 Tons. Before EOC, Dr. Nuyttens worked at Vitalo as business unit manager for the sheet extrusion division. Dr. Nuyttens earned his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Gent.
